Battle erupted on June 4th at 10:26. The ambush of the U.S. worked very well, the United States spotted the NW fleet from a sea plane launched from midway, which then was sent to the carriers, and then the dive bombers found the ships and launched their torpedoes.
The bombers set fire to 3 carriers in the first 1/2 hour. At the end the Japanese lost 3 carriers, and the U.S. lost the carrier Yorktown which was already damaged, and was due for dry dock for 6 months, but was sent out in 3 days after a jury rigged fix.
